Lancers Place Four in Top 5 at Suffolk Relays

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women's Indoor Track and Field team travelled to the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston to kick off their season at the Suffolk Relays. The team was dominant throughout the day, securing numerous top finishes and wrapped up in eight place and just behind fellow DIII institutions Brandeis and Regis in the Division I laden meet. The Women scored 26 points on the afternoon to close out a strong opening performance.

Worcester was led by first year Nina Fonteix (Elancourt, FR) who had the highest finish of the day for both programs with a second-place time of 3:22.49 in the Women's 1000m. Finishing along with Fonteix in the top five of their respective events were first years Emily Colantuoni (Haverhill, MA) and Jillian McMenemi (Westborough, MA) in the Women's 800M. Colantuoni finished in fourth in a time of 2:55.72 followed closely on the heels by Jillian Bolster for a fifth place time of 3:22.03. Additional points were secured by the Women's 4x200M relay team who crossed the finish in a time of 1:55.12 to close out the top five in the relay.

The Lancers are back on the line next Friday as they head to the Joe Donohue Games hosted by Northeastern University. The meet will see the Lancers again head to the Reggie Lewis Center to compete against some of the top competition in New England.
