WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s senior men’s indoor track & field captain, Sam Weeks (Methuen, Mass.) earned his third-consecutive Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Field Athlete of the Week award for his performance at this past weekend’s Tufts Stampede.

Weeks finished first in the shot put with a personal record of 16.15m (52-11.75), which puts him 12th nationally and first in both New England and Alliance rankings.

“Sam is on a mission this year,” stated head coach Al Halper.  “Each week he produces another PR in one or both of his throwing events.”

Weeks also placed fourth in the 35lb weight throw with a toss of 15.74m (51-7.75).

“He has made a commitment to excellence and the conscious effort to be one of the best,” said Halper.  “He is a great role model to our team through his work ethic and demeanor.  It has given me great pride to be involved with this young man.”

The Lancers indoor track & field team resumes competition this upcoming weekend as they travel to Middletown, Conn. to attend the Wesleyan II Invitational.
