WESTFIELD, Mass. - Highlighted by Women's Soccer Tournament Most Valuable Player Ali Maldonado (Rutland, Mass.), Worcester State University landed five weekly awards from the Massachusetts Collegiate Athletic Conference on Monday afternoon.

Maldonado was crowned the Tournament Most Valuable Player with four goals in three games, and at least one goal in each game. Maldonado also scored the goal that no Lancer fan will ever forget on Sunday, as the junior buried the MASCAC Championship-winning goal in double overtime to help Worcester State clinch its eighth MASCAC title.

Maldonado's teammate, freshman Hailey Skowronski (Douglas, Mass.) was named the MASCAC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week on Monday, after saving some of her best play of the season for the MASCAC Tournament. In the MASCAC First Round matchup against Fitchburg State, Skowronski netted her first collegiate goal, while also assisting on two others, as the Lancers picked up a 6-0 win to advance to the Semifinals, and eventually win the MASCAC Championship.

Men's ice hockey captain Matthew Manning (Novi, Mich.) claimed MASCAC Player of the Week honors. Manning scored a pair of goals on Tuesday as Worcester State claimed a 4-2 victory over Westfield State to open conference play. Manning's opening tally tied the score early in the second period, while his second goal would eventually serve as the game-winner.

Women's basketball swept the first MASCAC Weekly honors of the season, highlighted by Player of the Week Mya Mosley (Worcester, Mass.). Mosley was a big piece of Worcester State's offense in the first week of the 2019-20 and in her first two games in a Lancer uniform. In two games, Mosley averaged 18.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 blocks. For her efforts, she was named to the Worcester City Tournament All-Tournament Team.

Rounding out Worcester State's award was MASCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week Erin Gallella (Tewksbury, Mass.). Gallella had a huge opening week at the guard position for Worcester State, averaging 13.5 points in two games at the Worcester City Tournament. The freshman was lights out at 5-for-7 (71.4 percent) from beyond the arc, while also averaging three rebounds, two assists, and two steals per game on the weekend.
