Worcester State Athletics to Celebrate D3 Week

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Athletics Department is pleased to support the NCAA Division III Week for 2023. Division III Week is a positive opportunity for all individuals associated with Division III to observe and celebrate the impact of athletics and of student-athletes on the campus and surrounding community. During the week, every Division III school and conference office is encouraged to conduct a type of outreach activity that falls into one of three categories: academic accomplishment; athletic experience; or leadership/community service/campus involvement.

The 2023 Division III Week will run from April 10 through April 16, 2023, and will focus on events and promotions geared toward promoting and sharpening the Division III identity in conjunction with the Division III’s Identity Initiative. The initiative is guided by a strategic-positioning platform, describing Division III as a place where student-athletes can “follow your passions and develop your potential,” through an approach that combines rigorous academics, competitive athletics and an opportunity to pursue other interests.

Division III athletics provides a well-rounded collegiate experience that involves a balance of rigorous academics, competitive athletics, and the opportunity to pursue the multitude of other co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities offered on Division III campuses.

The Worcester State Athletics Student-Athletes, Staff and Departments will be participating in several events throughout the week highlighted by a special speaker, Greg DiCenzono, a professional baseball coach and former football, soccer, and baseball player at St. Lawrence University and he was the head baseball coach at the College of the Holy Cross from 2008 to 2019, on Tuesday, April 11th at 7:30am and the D3 Week Appreciation Game on Wednesday, April 12th, when the Worcester State Baseball team hosts Nichols College at 3:30pm.
