Michael Correa, your accomplishments and dedication to ice
hockey are well documented and you were a key player on teams that
recorded some of the most memorable seasons in Worcester State
College history.
You were a four-year veteran and finished your career as the
College's fourth all time leading scorer with 77 goals and 71
assists for 148 points and you also hold the Eastern College
Athletic Conference (ECAC) record for the fastest hat trick when
you scored three goals in just 48 seconds against Bridgewater State
during the 1971-72 season. You had back to back 49 point seasons as
a sophomore and a junior as you scored 26 goals and had 23 assists
in each of those seasons. You were also a member of the team that
fired a record 101 shots which resulted in 48 points on 17 goals
and 31 assists against the North Adams State goalie during the
1971-72 season.
You were a member of Lancers teams that had a 55-24-2 record, a
.688 winning percentage over four years and you also played on the
team in 1971-72 that had a 21-3 record, the best ever in Lancer
hockey history. You hold the school record of seven assists in one
game against Fitchburg State.
You were named to the Who's Who in American Colleges and
Universities during your undergraduate days at Worcester State.
You carried your playing skills over into the coaching ranks and
have served as a hockey and volleyball coach at Hudson High School
and Nichols College in hockey as well as being the baseball coach
at the JFK School in Hudson.
You are an avid sailor and won the 1986 Provincetown Yacht Club
race. You have also been a director of the West End Racing Club
Sailing School in Provincetown for five years.
You are currently a teacher at the JFK School in Hudson. Michael
Correa, it is with great pride that we induct you into the
Worcester State College Athletic Hall of Fame.
