Barry Named MASCAC Baseball Player of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s junior outfielder and designated hitter, Adam Barry (Auburn, Mass.) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending Mar. 6.

Barry batted .476 with four doubles, seven RBI and three walks for a .560 on-base percentage and .667 slugging percentage in a 5-0 stretch for the Lancers.

Barry went 6-for-9 with three doubles, two runs scored and three RBI in the doubleheader sweep of SUNY-Purchase this past weekend. He went 3-for-5 in game one, while reaching home plate in the top of the 10th inning for the game-winning run.

“Adam got us going with a two RBI missile in the first game of the afternoon, and he didn’t stop swinging in the second game,” stated head coach Dirk Baker.

Barry continued to shine as he went 3-for-4 in the second game of the afternoon.

“He’s been a key hitter for three years now,” added Baker. “The kid can flat-out swing the bat, though, I am more impressed by the walks he draws which shows that he knows the strike zone.”
