WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s Kayla Humphrey (Wallingford, Conn.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Pitcher of the Week for her performance in the circle for the week ending April 10.

Humphrey registered her first shutout of the season in a 3-0 victory over Westfield State on Saturday (Apr. 9). She only allowed five Owls hits, and logged two strikeouts with no walks in the complete game win.

“Kayla worked hard from start to finish, utilizing her craft of her spin pitches” commented pitching coach, Katie Roy. “She took each batter pitch-by-pitch and that strategy did not default her.”

The Lancers currently stand at the top of the MASCAC standings at 4-0 after sweeping Westfield State on Saturday, and then Mass. Maritime on Sunday.

The softball team returns to action on tomorrow in a cross-town game over at WPI. Doubleheader start time is set for 4 p.m.
