WORCESTER, Mass. – With another week of college basketball in Worcester in the books, it is time to unveil this week’s Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WACBA) Honor Roll, including players and rookies of the week.

Men’s Player of the Week: Reilly Reid (Jr.), Assumption (Mississauga, Ontario): In a 1-1 week for the Hounds, Reid averaged 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 61.9 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from three (5-for-7). Highlighting his week was a career-high 24-point effort in a road win at Molloy on Sunday.

Men’s Rookie of the Week: Marco Echevarria (Fr.), Nichols College (Lynn, Mass.): Echevarria, who was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week for the third-consecutive week on Monday, scored 19 points and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line in an 89-85 win at Westfield State on Tuesday, November 24. He also canned a trio of three-point field goals, snared three rebounds, and dished out three assists in 38 minutes of action. Echevarria leads the Bison and ranks second in the conference in scoring at 22.6 points per game.

Women’s Player of the Week: Raquel Scott (Sr.), Holy Cross (Ridgewood, N.J.): Scott had a strong week in the paint for Holy Cross, averaging a double-double with 18.0 points and 14.0 rebounds per game as the Crusaders went 1-1 last week. Against Yale, Scott poured in game-highs of 26 points and 15 rebounds (season-high), while shooting 60.0 percent from the field (12-20). In her team’s win over Bryant, Scott recorded 10 points and 13 rebounds, and hit two critical free throws late in the game to put Holy Cross ahead 65-61 (Bryant hit a three-pointer as time expired). Scott currently ranks fourth in the Patriot League with 9.3 rebounds per game and eighth with 15.3 points per contest. She is now tied for 16th on the Holy Cross all-time scoring list with 1,217 career points. Scott also recorded her 800th career rebound this past week and now has 812 as a Crusader, which stands fourth in Holy Cross history. The double-double for Scott was her third of the season and the 35th of her career, which ties her for third place in program history.

Women’s Rookie of the Week: Britt Herring (Fr.), Worcester State (W. Brookfield, Mass.): Herring registered a double-double this past week in the Lancers’ 70-63 win over the University of St. Joseph (Conn.). She scored 17 points and added 11 rebounds for Worcester State. She went 7-for-8 from the field (87.5%) and 3-for-4 (75%) from the free-throw line. Herring also had a game-high five blocks, two assists, and one steal against the Blue Jays.

Honor Roll:

Malachi Alexander (Jr.), Holy Cross (Bowie, Md.): Led the team with a season-high 17 points and five rebounds in the victory over Harvard. Alexander added 11 points, five rebounds and three assists in the win over Sacred Heart.

Karl Charles (Fr.), Holy Cross (Piscataway, N.J.): Led the team with career highs of 15 points and seven rebounds in the victory over Sacred Heart. Charles matched his career high with seven rebounds in the win over Harvard, while also handing out a career-best four assists.

Morgan O’Brien (Jr.), Assumption (Reading, Mass.): In a 1-1 week vs. two nationally-ranked teams, O’Brien averaged 13 points and 2.5 rebounds while shooting 45.5 percent from the field. Highlighting her week was an 18-point effort in a home win over No. 19 Bentley University that included a 3-for-6 performance from three-point land.

Kwame Lee (Sr.), Fitchburg State (Brockton, Mass.): Averaged 13.5 points per contest on 52.4% shooting from the field, while adding 6.5 rebounds per game for the Falcons. Lee posted 14 points, five caroms, one assist and three blocks in an 88-83 setback to UMass Boston on Tuesday before adding 13 points, eight boards and one assist in a 49-47 loss to MIT on Saturday.

Jamal Mustapha (Jr.), Worcester State (Worcester, Mass.): recorded 16 points for the Lancers in the 57-51 loss against cross-town rivals, WPI. Mustapha went 6-for-12 from the field, while going 4-for-8 from 3-point range. On the defensive end, Mustapha totaled three rebounds and three steals against the Engineers.

Obi Obiora (Soph.), WPI (Boston, Mass.): Obiora paced all players with 22 points and 13 rebounds as WPI rallied from a nine-point second half deficit to defeat city rival Worcester State 57-51 on Tuesday. The returning NEWMAC Rookie of the Year connected on 9-of-17 field goal attempts and gobbled up eight offensive rebounds en route to posting his first career double-double.

Staasha Greenalch (Soph.), WPI, (Newington, Conn.): Greenalch and her teammates are 5-1 and 1-0 in the NEWMAC after victories last week over Nichols and Emerson.  The sophomore guard came off the bench to lead all players with 12 points as the Engineers opened up conference play with a hard-earned 54-48 triumph over the Lions on Saturday. Greenalch also added six points Tuesday in the win over Nichols.
