Worcester, MA --- Worcester State junior right hander Joey Lucier (Brockton, MA) has been named MASCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week after his performance this past weekend in the Lancers sweep of Mass Maritime Academy.

Lucier notched his first victory of the season as he hurled six innings allowing just two hits in a 12-0 triumph over the Buccaneers. Lucier also fanned four and allowed one walk as the Lancers presented head coach Dr. Dirk Baker with his 300th career victory.

In five starts and four appearances Lucier is currently 1-2 on the season and he leads the WSC starting pitching staff with a 2.25 ERA. Lucier has thrown a team high 22 innings while also recording 14 strikeouts and one save. Luciers ERA and innings pitched are also good for fourth-best in the MASCAC.

In his 14th season at WSC, Baker has compiled career record of 301-194 (.608) as the all-time winningest coach in Worcester State College history.

With a sweep Mass Maritime, the Lancers are currently 8-8 (2-0 MASCAC) this season. The Blue and Gold will play four games in the next week starting with Assumption tomorrow at 3:30, continuing with UMass-Boston at 3:30 and then facing off against Westfield State at Assumption in a 12 PM double-header.
