LaPrade Named MASCAC Player of the Week

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Worcester State senior Ryan LaPrade has been named MASCAC Baseball Player of the Week for his performance in a 2-1 week for the Lancers. This is the first time in his career that LaPrade has been honored by the conference with a weekly honor.

LaPrade, who hails from Leominster, MA, batted .600 (6-for-10) with three doubles, three runs batted in, three steals and seven runs scored which included three hits each in a 12-3 win and a 16-2 triumph over Mass Maritime. He also posted a .692 on-base percentage for the week.

LaPrade, a four-year starter for WSC, is currently batting .295 with 16 runs and nine RBIs and he has an on-base percentage of .459. LaPrade leads the MASCAC in stolen bases as he is a perfect 11-for-11 on the season while he is tied for sixth in the conference in runs.

Coming into the season LaPrade was third on the all-time list in steals with 49 and with a pair of swipes this past weekend he passed WSC Hall of Famer Jason Akana’s (1994-96) mark of 59. He is now only 25 away from the career record held by Tim Leonard (1998-2001).

The Lancers have four games in the next week as they will play WPI on Monday and Anna Maria on Thursday at 3:30 before they head to Westfield State for a noontime MASCAC doubleheader on Saturday.
