George Earns NEIBA All-New England, ECAC All-Star Recognition

Worcester, MA --- Worcester State sophomore Zach George (Attleboro, MA) has been tabbed to both the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Divsion III All-New England Team and the ECAC New England All-Star Team.

George was one of four from the MASCAC to receive the nod to the NEIBA squad as a Third-team honoree and he was one of six outfielders from around New England to earn prestigious All-ECAC laurels.

As the regular season MASCAC batting champion, George hit for a .418 average with 12 doubles, two triples, 23 runs scored and 19 runs batted in. In addition to finishing the year with the highest on base percentage in the league (.488), George was also sixth in total base-knocks and total bases (62) while he was in the top 20 in both runs and RBI's.

George made the difference in conference play as he clubbed for a conference-best .452 average to go with 12 runs, seven two-baggers and eight RBI's. George was among the team leaders in several clutch statistics which included hitting for a .476 clip with runners in scoring position (20-for-42) and batting with two men down (.381 – 16-for-42).

In the field, George gunned down seven runners from his right field position, which was among the highest totals in New England. Among All-NEIBA outfielders, he tied for second with 29th round MLB Amateur Draft pick Connor Bierfeldt (Torrington, CT) of Western Connecticut and he was one off junior Forrest Chadwich (Gardiner, ME) of Southern Maine, who notched eight.

George finished the campaign among the NCAA Division III leaders with the 32nd-best batting average (sixth in New England) and 59th in on-base percentage (ninth in New England).

Since taking over the reins of the program, 18th year Dr. Dirk Baker has had 27 NEIBA All-New England players, 16 ECAC All-Stars and nine representatives compete in the annual All-Division Senior All-Star Game.

The Lancers wrapped up their season at 19-22 and 8-6 in the MASCAC, which was good to tie for third place in the final regular season standings. The Blue and Gold ended their postseason run in the conference tournament semifinals.
