Doyle Selected Co-MASCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Westfield, MA --- Freshman Kris Doyle (Millbury, MA) has been named Co-MASCAC Pitcher of the Week for his efforts in helping lead Worcester State to a sweep of Bridgewater State this past weekend.

Doyle tossed a two-hit shutout in a 2-0 triumph over the Bears as he issued just one free pass and finished with one strikeout. He retired the first 14 batters he saw through his first 4 2/3 innings of work en route to recording his second complete game of the campaign.

In his first full season since transferring from Franklin Pierce, Doyle is 4-3 overall in eight games as he is tied for seventh in wins and is 11th in the MASCAC in innings (40.0). Among those who have at least five starts to their credit, Doyle is 13th in strikeouts (24), 14th in earned runs (24) and 15th in earned run average (3.38).

In MASCAC only games, Doyle has posted a 3-1 mark with a 2.42 ERA to go along with 14 punchouts in 26.0 innings.

This week Doyle shares the weekly honor with junior Ryan Magni (W. Springfield, MA) of Fitchburg State.

Worcester State is currently two games out of first place and wrap up the season at MASCAC leader Salem State on Saturday in a 12 PM affair on the road. The Lancers will try to claim a share of their fifth MASCAC regular season championship and the top seed in next week's conference tournament.
