Steve Melville Named to First-Team NEFC Bogan Division

Worcester, MA --- Worcester State College junior defensive end Steve Melville has been named to the New England Football Conference (NEFC) First Team of the Bogan Division as voted on by league coaches late last week. The announcement was made yesterday by league publicist Roger Crosley.

Westfield State linebacker Jay Fielding along with Curry linebacker Scott Driscroll were named Defensive Players of the Year for the Bogan and Boyd divisions, respectively, while Bridgewater State running back Bruce Burley and MIT tail back DeRon Brown were distinguished with Offensive Players of the Year accolades.

Melville, who hails from Merrimac, MA, led the Lancers defensively with 47 tackles (32 solo) and a staggering 18.5 tackles for a loss with 7.5 sacks, which were both second in the NEFC. Melville’s marks of total tackles for a loss and per game were both tied for 14th and 12th, respectively in the NCAA Division III.

WSC ended their season with a 2-8 record under 26th year head coach Brien Cullen.
