Boston, MA --- Worcester State senior linebacker Matt McLean has been selected as this weeks NEFC Defensive Player of the Week after his performance this past weekend in WSC's 20-10 victory over Fitchburg State.
McLean, who hails from Methuen, MA, registered 10 tackles (3.5 for a loss of 14 yards) with a three-yard sack in their triumph over the Falcons. The win for the Lancers was their first of the season and snapped a 10-game losing streak, which started with Fitchburg State in a 42-21 setback in week 7 last season.
McLean, is currently third on the team in tackles (29) while he ties for the team lead with five tackles for a loss (for 18 yards). McLean notched his first sack of the season against FSC.
Worcester State (1-6, 1-3 NEFC Bogan) continues Bogan Division play with Coast Guard on Saturday at 12 PM.
