Hippert Receives Nod On D3football.com Team of the Week

Minneapolis, MN --- For the second time this season, junior Casey Hippert (Douglas, MA) has been honored on the D3football.com Team of the Week as a tight end.

Hippert hauled in a career-best nine passes for 163 yards which included an 81 yard score in the first quarter to help lead the Lancers offensively as they fell to Western Connecticut 55-35 this past weekend.

His 81 yard strike is currently the longest receiving play in the MASCAC on the campaign and it is a distant second among New England to the 88 yard grab by freshman Grant Klimek (Toms River, NJ) of Nichols made on against West Conn on September 13.

Hippert is currently second in the conference with 844 yards receiving with an average of 120.6 yards per game while he is fourth in receptions (49). Both totals are currently seventh in the latest NCAA Division III rankings as he sits at the only tight-end in the nation in the top 50 in both categories.

With his solid game this past weekend against Western Connecticut, Hippert slides into seventh on Worcester State's all-time list with 93 receptions and with 1,623 career receiving yards he is just 274 off of the top five.

Hippert also earned D3football.com laurels on September 18 when he caught a then career-best eight passes for 183 yards which included a key reception on third down to help the Lancers set-up the game-winning touchdown in their 15-14 win over WPI.

Worcester State (3-4) makes the trek up to Plymouth State this Saturday for a 1 PM meeting on the road. It marks the first meeting against the Panthers since the 1988 NEFC Championship game.
