Worcester, MA --- Senior Megan Rosborough (Uxbridge, MA) tallied a goal and an assist to help pace Worcester State, 2-0, over Becker College in non-conference field hockey action on Monday evening at Coughlin Stadium. The Lancers improved their record to 5-3 while the Hawks slip to 3-5.

The Blue and Gold had several opportunities to get more than one shot on goal in the first half, but Becker played outstanding defense and held the Lancers to just six shots the entire period. Rosborough finally broke through the protection in front of the net at 30:27 when she scored on a pass from junior Veronica Farell (Baldwinville, MA).

Becker's only attempt of the first was a shot by sophomore Kristal Swinderski (Warren, MA). Swinderski hit a clean shot right in front of the middle of the net, but senior Kim Cosenza (Fitchburg, MA) stepped in and deflected the shot for her Little East leading sixth defensive save.

Worcester turned when they came onto the field for the second stanza as they ended the half with a 12-6 edge in shots.

In the 43rd minute Becker was awarded a penalty stroke after a shot attempt got stopped by a defender on its way to the net. Freshman Nicole Lijana (Moorestown, NJ) took the shot and made good contact, but it was deflected by senior keeper Erin MacDonald (Dedham, MA).

The Lancers extended their lead at 52:26 when Rosborough caught a deflection off of a save and sent it to classmate Ginelle Blias (Marlboro, MA) for her second goal of the season.

MacDonald finished the game recording her fourth shutout of the season and second in as many games. MacDonald ended the evening with three saves while her counterpart, senior Ciara Lawrence (Costa Mesa, CA), made three stops between the pipes for Becker.

Worcester State continues its three-game home stand with a 7 PM Little East matchup with Southern Maine on Wednesday while Becker will entertain Lasell on Thursday at 4.
