New England College Rallies Past Field Hockey, 3-2

Henniker, NH --- New England College field hockey forward Samantha Escobar (Rumney, NH) would score with just 1:32 remaining in regulation to lift the Pilgrims past the visiting Worcester State College Lancers 3-2 Thursday afternoon.  With the win the Pilgrims improve to 10-4 on the season, while the loss drops the Lancers to 3-11 overall.

Worcester State would start the scoring early as Kaitlynn Delisle (Taunton, MA) would flip in a loose ball over the Pilgrim keeper just 6:15 into the opening half.

NEC would knot the game at 1-1 in the 24th minute as Emily Kuchta (Norwalk, CT) would put in a nice pass from Rachel Carnaroli (Bellingham, MA)  The Lancers would regain the lead right before halftime as Delisle would record her second goal of the game thanks to a cross from Karla Rotondi (Tewksbury, MA) at the 30:32 mark.

The Pilgrims would score the equalizer early in the second half as Escobar would score off a corner from Kuchta just over three minutes into the half. The two teams would battle through much of the second scoreless before Escobar would put in a rebound with 1:32 remaining. 

Worcester would out shoot NEC 14-8 on the afternoon as the Pilgrims would hold the slight 7-6 advantage in corners.

Picking up the win in net for NEC was Mary Roux (Auburn, MA) who finished with eight saves. In goal for Worcester State was Katherine Masterjohn (Warren, MA) who recorded four saves on the afternoon.

New England College will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 17 when they travel to take on conference opponent Endicott College at 1:00 p.m. Worcester State will host Keene State College on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 4:00 p.m.
