Field Hockey Ends Season With Win Over Eastern Connecticut

Mansfield, CT --- Senior Meghan Feehan's (Lunenburg, MA) sixth goal of the season in the ninth minute stood up as Worcester State University (7-12, 4-7 LEC) edged Eastern Connecticut State University (4-14, 1-10 LEC), 1-0, in a Little  Conference match which was the season-finale for both teams.

The triumph snapped a nine-game drought as the season-ending victory left it a game shy of qualifying for the eight-team LEC tournament.

Feehan finished as the team's co-leader in goals with junior Samantha Janda (Sterling, MA) when she when knocked the only marker of the match past Eastern senior goalie Tia Mucciarone (Franklin, MA) from the middle of the circle with just over eight minutes gone in the match.

Eastern's best chance to tie the match came with 6:30 left when senior Paige Booth's  (Hollis, NH) shot rolled under Worcester senior goalie Kat Masterjohn (Warren, MA) but went just wide of the right post.

The Warriors earned two penalty corners in the final minute of play but could not convert either of those two opportunities into shots.

The Lancers outshot Eastern Connecticut 10-5 as both squads were even in penalty corners (4-4).
