Janda, Mullen Earn Weekly Little East Honors

N. Dartmouth, MA --- Senior forward Samantha Janda and junior net minder Rebecca Mullen have both received the nod for weekly Little East Conference honors for their respective performances in a 2-0 week for Worcester State.

Janda was named the Little East Player of the Week for the second time this season while Mullen was tabbed the Little East Goalkeeper of the Week for the first time in her career.

Janda, who hails from Sterling, MA, produced three goals and two assists for eight points including two markers and the game-winning helper in a 3-1 triumph over Southern Maine before she added a tally and an assist in a 4-0 win over Eastern Connecticut.

Mullen, a product of Peabody, MA, posted a 0.50 goals against average with a .938 save percentage to backstop the Blue and Gold in both of their victories. Mullen stopped 15 of the 16 shots she faced in 140 minutes of action which included 10 saves in their 3-1 win against the Huskies and she also turned aside five shots for her fourth shutout of the season in a 4-0 win over the Warriors.

With their wins over Southern Maine and Eastern Connecticut, the Lancers were able to pull into a four-way tie for fifth place in the LEC standings heading into the final week of the season.

Janda is currently tied for fifth in the LEC with 33 points (13 goals – 7 assists) and her helpers are tied for third in the conference standings. Janda is just three assists shy of tying the single-season record in the category. With 24 career goals and 15 assists, her 63 points are currently 10th on WSU's all-time scoring list.

Mullen has helped the Lancers post the fourth-best goals against average as a team in the LEC (1.49) while the squad is also ranked fifth in goals allowed (24). Mullen herself is sixth in the conference goals against average (1.52), tied for eighth in total saves (72) and her four shutouts are tied for fourth overall.

Mullen is also 40th in the NCAA Division III in goals against average while she is 14th in New England, among regional goalkeepers.

Worcester State (9-7, 5-5 LEC) will play Fitchburg State at 11 AM at home in their regular season finale on "Senior Day".
