Field Hockey Blanked By UMass Dartmouth, 5-0

N. Dartmouth, MA --- Senior Erica Allan (Amherst, MA) and junior Tiffany Richard (Fitchburg, MA) both netted two goals each as they helped lift UMass Dartmouth to a 5-0 triumph over Worcester State in Little East field hockey action this evening.

The Corsairs (5-3, 4-0 LEC ) got the scoring started 4:55 into the contest when Richard sent in her third goal of the season on an assist by third-year Victoria Dolice (Jamestown, RI).

Then Allan tacked on two more goals exactly five minutes apart midway through the period. The markers were her third and fourth of the year, respectively.

UMD ended the half with the 4-0 advantage after Richard tallied again at the 32:08 mark.

The hosts scored once more before the end of the contest with the first goal of the campaign by junior Devon Herilihy (Exeter, NH) with 55:24.

Worcester State (2-6, 0-4 LEC) senior Rebecca Mullen (Peabody, MA) finished with a season-high 17 saves.

Fourth-year Torey Kuchachik (Ashland, MA), junior Katherine Bitters (Greenfield, MA) and freshman Stephanie Rizzitano (Canton, MA) all finished with a defensive stop each in the setback.

Kuchachik now has a team-high three defensive saves this season while Bitters has two.

The Corsair defense did a tremendous job keeping the Lancer offense at bay throughout the contest as WSU did not record one shot. Third-year Lauren O'Brien (Rochester, MA) posted her second shutout of the year.

Both squads continue LEC play on Saturday afternoon. Worcester State hosts Bridgewater State at 3 PM while UMass Dartmouth heads to Salem State for a battle at 12.
