Westfield, MA --- Worcester State juniors Megan Ripke (Agawam, MA) and Krissy Kenney (Rehoboth, MA) underscored 12 selections on the MASCAC Fall All-Academic Team as announced by conference publicist Emily Diekelmann.

For Ripke and Kenney, the pair earned prestigious laurels for the third times in their careers while second-time honorees included senior Kelli McPherson (Mansfield, MA), junior Erika Lepkowski (Baldwinville, MA), classmate Victoria Watkins (Douglas, MA) and sophomore Alli Baker (Somerset, MA).

Others who were named to the squad for the first time included senior Jourdan Childs (Attleboro, MA), sophomore Katelyn Carmody (Shelburne Falls, MA), classmate Meghan Pini (Natick, MA) as well as freshman teammates Alexa Harvey (Attleboro, MA), Kathryn Salemme (Boxboro, MA) and Hayley Sutherland (Tewksbury, MA).

To earn a spot on the MASCAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have achieved a 3.20 cumulative or semester-based GPA during their season of competition.

With their overall sum on the MASCAC All-Academic team, the field hockey squad tied for the second-most in the conference with Bridgewater State and sported a 3.18 overall GPA during the 2014 Fall semester.

Baker, Kenney, Lepkowski, Ripke and Watkins were also recognized on the Little East Conference All-Academic team for carrying at least a cumulative GPA of 3.30 earlier this month.

Under the tutelage of third-year head coach Chris Pothier, the Blue and Gold went 10-9 overall and earned a trip to their second consecutive LEC Tournament, before falling in the quarterfinals.

Among institutions in the MASCAC, Worcester State had 99 overall selections on the league fall academic honor roll for the third highest total in the conference. The total number of WSU student-athletes also marked the highest since the league began listing its all-academic honor roll on a season-by-season basis during the 2009-10 academic year.
