
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Field Hockey Team had two named to this weeks MASCAC Weekly honors as seniors Grace Adams (Leominster, MA) and Sam Gastonguay (Ashburnham, MA) picked up offensive and defensive honors.
For the third time this season, Adams was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week. She scored three goals and added an assist in a 2-0 week for the Lancers to clinch the regular season title and be the number one seed. Found the back of the net three times in the 3-2 win over Framingham State and added an assist in the 3-0 win over Salem State. Adams wraps up the regular season with 16 goals and six assists for 38 points with four game winners.
Gastonguay was named, for the second time this season, the MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week. She registered six saves with a 1.000 save percentage and 0.00 GAA in the Lancers’ 3-0 shutout win over Salem State to clinch the regular season title. On the season, Gastonguay has four wins and two losses, with 33 saves for a 1.42 GAA and a .786 save percentage and one shutout.
Worcester State returns to action Friday in their MASCAC Semifinal matchup at 6pm versus a team to be determined.
