Worcester, MA --- The Worcester State men's basketball team scored a season high 91 points as they improved their MASCAC postseason tournament hopes with a, 91-62, victory over the visiting Trailblazers of MCLA.  The Lancers hit 12 three pointers on the day, including 10 in the first half, as they improved to 10-13 (3-7 MASCAC).  MCLA falls to 6-16 (MASCAC).

The Lancers raced out to a, 49-32, halftime lead as they drained 10 three pointers in the half led by sophomore Pat Hamilton (Templeton, MA) who was 4-of-5 from long distance in the half to lead all scorers with 12 points.  Senior Ryan Frassica (Brockton, MA) followed with 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc for 9 points.  Freshman Ryan Testagrossa (Athol, MA) added a pair of treys as well.  Overall the Lancers were 10-of-22 in the half.  MCLA was paced by point guard Benny Cupril (Albany, NY) who led the Trailblazers with 9 points in the half.  Senior Diante Ellis (Jacksonville, FL) scored 8 for the visitors in the first half.

In the second half, the Trailblazers were able to cut the Lancer lead to 13 points over the first 7 minutes to trail, 57-44, but Worcester State quickly regained their footing and pushed their advantage back over the 20 point margin with an 18-1 run over a four minute span.

The Lancers had 4 players reach double digits in scoring.  Hamilton led everyone on the afternoon with 14 points.  Josh Barry (Sheffield, MA) and Elijah Sims (Worcester, MA) each added 13 with Barry adding 15 rebounds.  Frassica ended the day with 12 points.  Ellis paced MCLA with 13 points followed by Cuprill with 12 and Dave Bisesi (Syracuse, NY) chipped in with 10 points.

Worcester State returns to the floor on Tuesday evening when they visit Bridgewater State College.  MCLA will host Salem State on Monday evening.
