Worcester State Falls In 3rd Place Game To Hendrix

Belton, TX --- Hendrix College built a big first half lead and then held off a Worcester State charge as the Warriors posted an 86-74 victory over the Lancers in the consolation game of the Cru Crothall Holiday Classic Saturday afternoon in Belton, Texas. Hendrix improves to 6-3 on the season with the victory. The loss drops the Lancers to 5-5 on the year.

The Warriors shot 53 per cent from the field and 54 per cent from three-point range in building a 51-33 halftime lead. Worcester State battled back with a 20-4 run to open the second half and cut the lead to 55-53 with 11:16 remaining. Hendrix would lead by as many as eight points before another Lancer run cut it to 64-63 with 5:55 to go. The Warriors then put the game away from the free-throw line, hitting 20-22 from the charity stripe from there.

Andrew King led four players in double figures for Hendrix with 22 points and he also grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds. Justin Avery added 19 points, Cal Rose scored 18 and Janson Hightower chipped in with 16 for the Warriors. Will Spont led Worcester State with 26 points and Ryan Frassica added 17. Josh Barry had 12 rebounds and nine points for the Lancers in the loss.
