Horton Named MASCAC/Co-ECAC New England Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

Worcester, MA --- Junior forward Maurice Horton has been selected the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week and ECAC New Engalnd Co-Player of the Week after he helped lead the Lancers to a 3-1 week.

Horton, a native of Detroit, Michigan and transfer from Qunsigammond Community College averaged 30.8 points and 11 rebounds which included 30 points and 13 boards in an 82-75 win over Nichols to go along with 27 points and 11 caroms in a 64-62 triumph at Clark.

Horton capped off his sensational week averaging 33 points and 10 boards at the Norwich Ed Hockenbury Classic which included a 33 point and 11 rebound performance in an 87-79 third place game victory over St. Joseph (VT).

With five double-doubles through seven games this season, Horton currently leads the MASCAC in average points (26.9) and is tied for average rebounds (11.3) while he is second in total points (188) and third in combined boards (79).

Worcester State has a 3-4 record this season and will play its last game before the winter break against Regis on Thursday at 7.
