All-MASCAC Men's Basketball Team
Worcester, MA --- Junior forward Maurice Horton
has been selected to the Massachusetts State College Athletic
Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Basketball First-Team as announced
this afternoon by conference publicist Jim Seavey. The vote was
taken by each of the conferences seven head coaches earlier this
week.
Horton, who hails from Detroit, MI, was a standout performer for
the Lancers as he finished the regular season totaling 581 points
for an NCAA sixth best total and ninth best average (23.2) and
while he also ranked 28th in rebounds per game (10.1).
Horton also is among the conference leaders in several categories
which includes fourth in average assists (3.60), fifth in free
throw percentage (.775), seventh in total blocks (17), eighth in
field goal percentage (.494) and 11th in average steals (1.52).
Horton was joined on the First Team by fourth-year Roland
Millien (Stoughton, MA) of Bridgewater State, third-year
Josue Almodovar (Holyoke, MA) of Framingham State
along with senior’s Dylan Holmes (Groton,
MA) and Stevie Celestin (Somerville, MA) of Salem
State and junior Dave Jaenig (Quincy, MA) of
Westfield State. Holmes was tabbed the conference player of the
year while teammate Brian Clark (Deerfield, MA)
was honored as the MASCAC Rookie of the Year.
Chris Harvey of Salem and Joe
Farroba of Bridgewater State also each received the nod as
MASCAC Co-Coaches of the year.
The Lancers bowed out to Framingham State yesterday, 90-77, in the
quarterfinal round of the MASCAC Men’s basketball tournament
to end their season with a 12-14 record.
