D3Hoops.com All-Northeast Men's Team
Worcester, MA --- Worcester State junior Maurice
Horton (Detroit, MI) has been selected to the D3Hoops.com
All-Northeast Regional Team after voting that was conducted last
week by regional sports information directors. Horton was one of
two named to the squad from the MASCAC.
Horton, who was tabbed to the second team, finished the season with
an impressive total of 597 points and 260 rebounds for an average
of 23 points and 10 boards per contest. As of this past week his
total and average points were ninth and tied for 11th in the NCAA
Division III, respectively, while his average rebounds were 30th in
the nation. Horton ended the season on the All-MASCAC
First-Team.
Horton led the MASCAC in average points as well as finishing third
overall in boards per contest. Horton also ended the season top ten
in several categories which include average defensive and offensive
rebounds (6.5-3.5; third), average assists (3.54; fourth), free
throw percentage (.777; fifth) and field goal percentage (.494;
eighth). In addition Horton was second in the conference in minutes
played (33.35) and 11th in average steals (1.46).
Horton was joined on the squad by third-team honoree Dylan Holmes
(Groton, MA) of Salem State. Senior MIT standout Jimmy Bartolotta
(Littleton, CO) was also honored as the Northeast Player of the
Year while Clark freshman Brian Vayda (Sturbridge, MA) was named
the Northeast Rookie of the Year. Jeff Brown of Middlebury earned
the accolade of Northeast Coach of the Year.
The Lancers ended the season at 12-14 after bowing out to
Framingham State in the MASCAC quarterfinals under 14th year head
coach Dave Lindberg.
