Hunter Nabs MASCAC Player of the Week Honor

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Worcester State sophomore Robert Hunter (St. Louis, MO) has been honored as this week's MASCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his solid performance in a pair of setbacks that the Lancers were handed in the last week.

Hunter averaged 19 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in a 0-2 week which included 23 points and 11 boards in a 74-69 setback against St. John Fisher while he also finished with 15 points, 12 caroms and five helpers in a 69-67 setback against UMass Dartmouth. He also connected for 68 percent (17-for-25) from the field for the week.

Hunter is currently leads the MASCAC in average rebounds (10.2 RPG) while he is fourth in total rebounds (82), fifth in the conference in scoring (14.6 PPG), sixth in field goal percentage (.485) and seventh in average steals (1.8 SPG).

Hunters also has an average of 3.4 offensive rebounds and 6.9 defensive boards per game – totals that are second and third in the league, respectively.

The Lancers (2-6) look to snap a three game skid when they travel to Newport News, VA on December 29 at 5:30 to take on McDaniel College in the first round of the Christopher Newport Captains Shootout. The winner or loser will play the host Captains or Piedmont in the consolation or championship the following day.
