Hunter Receives All-MASCAC Men's Basketball First-Team Nod

 

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Worcester State sophomore forward Robert Hunter (St. Louis, MI/Normandy) has been named to the All-MASCAC First-Team in a vote by the leagues seven head coaches on Monday.

Since matriculating from Mass Bay Community College, Hunter has been an impact transfer, logging an eye-popping 18 double-doubles in 26 games this season as he was tied for fifth in the NCAA Division III with 17 double-doubles as of February 19.

As of the end of the regular season Hunter was third in the MASCAC in average scoring (16.1) and points (403) while he was tied for the top spot in average rebounds (10.1) and second in total caroms (262). He was also tied for fifth in steals (50), seventh in steals per contest (2.0) and 12th in field goal percentage (.457).

When rebounds are broken down by category, Hunter is second in average offensive caroms (4.2) and third in defensive boards (6.3).

Under the direction of 18th year head coach Dave Lindberg, the fourth-seeded Lancers were upset yesterday in the opening round of the MASCAC Men's Basketball Tournament by #5 MCLA, 73-65. WSU finished the season with an overall record of 8-18 and a 5-7 mark in league play.
