Chris Cardoso Tabbed MASCAC Player of the Week

WESTFIELD, Mass. - For the first time this season, Worcester State University men's basketball junior Chris Cardoso (Jamaica Plain, Mass.) has been named Player of the Week by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Cardoso played a huge role in the Lancers starting off their MASCAC season 3-0, averaging nearly a double-double in three games this week with 21.7 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.

Cardoso opened the week with 28 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Westfield State, before scoring 14 points with 12 boards against Framingham State, and adding 23 points with four boards against Salem State.

In the three contests, Cardoso shot 60 percent from the floor, 46 percent from three-point land, and 90 percent at the free throw stripe.

The award is the first weekly recognition received by a member of the men's basketball team this season. They are the ninth Worcester State athletic team to receive a weekly award from their respective conference during the 2019-20 academic year.

Cardoso and the Lancers will look to remain red hot when they host MCLA on Wednesday night at John P. Brissette Court. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
