WESTFIELD, Mass. - Sam Dion (Barre, Mass.), a freshman on the Worcester State University men's basketball team, has been named the Rookie of the Week by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Dion lit it up this week for the Lancers, recording 18 points per game to help the Lancers into a tie for first place in the MASCAC. Dion's best outing of the week came on Saturday, when he scored 25 points, including shooting 6-for-9 from three, in Worcester State's win over MCLA.

Dion and the Lancers will return to action on Wednesday evening for Senior Night at John P. Brissette Court against Fitchburg State. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
