WORCESTER, Mass. - Worcester State University men's basketball freshman Sam Dion (Barre, Mass.) has been named the Worcester Area College Basketball Association Men's Rookie of the Week.

Dion averaged 15 points per game over two games. The rookie opened the week with a team high 19 points against Baruch last Monday, before adding 11 in a victory over Bridgewater State on Wednesday. Dion was 5-for-13 on three-point attempts on the week for a percentage of 38.5.

Dion and the Lancers will return to the court on Wednesday for a key MASCAC matchup against Westfield State. Tip-off from the Woodward Center is slated for 5:30 p.m.
