Worcester, MA- First year Worcester State Men’s Basketball Coach Al Pettway is pleased to announce the 2024-25 Men’s Basketball Schedule. The Lancers are 2x back-to-back MASCAC Champions after defeating Bridgewater State in overtime last season. Pettway returns to Chandler Street after a hall of fame career, and championship of his own, to continue the winning path of the Blue and Gold. Returning to aid in the three-peat championship quest is senior’s Brandon Goris and Suubi Nkugwa who will lead a batch of talented returners and skilled newcomers to Brissette Court.
“I’m very excited to be returning back to my alma mater and starting this new chapter”, says Pettway “and to help to continue to build on the success of this great program.
Worcester State will begin their season at home on November 8th when they welcome Rhode Island College to tip off the 2024-25 season, before they make a quick hop down the road to meet up with WPI on November 12th. November 15th and 16th will still have the Lancers on the road as they travel to Colby to compete in the Men’s Tip Off Tournament before returning home for two games. The 19th will see the Lancers on the court with the Golden Bears of Western New England prior to taking on the Pride of Regis College. The 23rd finds Worcester State headed to Boston to meet Emerson before their final two home games of 2024 on December 3rd versus Wesleyan and the 7th against SUNY Poly. Closing out the 2024 side of the schedule will have Worcester journeying east again, this time to face Lasell on December 9th.
After a nice break for the holidays and to welcome in 2025, the Lancers again begin at home as they host Williams on January 4th at 1pm. Worcester State will then be back on the road on the 6th to take on Trinity before turning around and heading north to meet with Plymouth State on the 8th. Worcester will return home on January 11th to begin their conference slate as they host Fitchburg State before beginning the two away, two home cycle that will send them first to the first of their championship grudge match duos with Westfield State on the 15th followed by Bridgewater on the 18th. The two home games will bring Same to Worcester on January 22nd before Framingham’s arrival on the 25th. The Blue and Gold head back on the trail on the 29th as they journey west to MCLA prior to beginning the conference cycle in reverse with a trip to Fitchburg State on February 5th. In round two of the championship showdown battles, Westfield State will make their appearance on February 8th followed directly on the 12th with Bridgewater State’s arrival on Brissette Court. The Lancers will then head out to Salem on the 15th and swing back through Framingham on the 19th. They will close out the 2024-25 regular season on February 22nd when they host MCLA in their final home game of the season, the game will also be held to honor the senior accomplishments of the team.
