Men's Golf Competes at Brett Williamson Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Freshman Jake Poitras (Harwich, Mass.) and junior Connor Anderson (Raynham, Mass.) both carded six-over 77s on Wednesday, leading the Worcester State University men's golf team to a fourth place finish at the eight-team Brett Williamson Invitational, hosted by Westfield State University at Tekoa Country Club.

Despite the fourth place finish, the Lancers finished just three strokes off the pace, set by the Westfield State Blue Team, with a score of 318. Westfield State White finished second with 319, Northern Vermont-Johnson was third with a score of 320, while the Lancers posted 321.

Poitras and Anderson finished just two shots behind the leaders with their 77s. Westfield State's Ryan Koczela (Bridgewater, Mass.) shot a 75 on the day, and won a three-player playoff to claim the individual title. 

Freshman Brodie Coughlin (North Brookfield, Mass.) shot an 82 for the Lancers on the day, with junior Brian Poillucci (North Attleboro, Mass.) shooting an 85. Senior Kyle Baker (Fresno, Calif.) rounded out the scoring for Worcester State on the afternoon, putting up a score of 88. 

The men's golf team will be off until Tuesday, October 2, when the Lancers host the MASCAC Championships at Blackstone National Golf Club in Sutton.
