Marlboro, MA --- Freshman Derek Serbon (Crown Point, IN) notched three points with two goals and an assist to help lead Worcester State to a 6-3 non-conference triumph over Becker this afternoon.

The Lancers (6-2-3) got the scoring started 4:30 into the game when Serbon connected with sophomore Tim Bowman (Moorpark, CA) on a power-play goal. Becker responded in the 11th minute with a power play goal of their own off the stick of junior Jeremy Narducci (Apex, NC), tying the game at 1-1.

Becker took the lead 2:08 into the second period on first-year Korby Anderson's (Owantonna, MN.) sixth goal of the season. Worcester State answered back when Becker third-year goalie Jake Rosenthal (Wantagh, NY) miss played a clearing attempted, allowing junior Nick Asterito (Philadelphia, PA) skate in all alone, tying the game at 2-2.

The Lancers regained the lead when Serbon scored a power play goal, making it 3-2. Junior John Cahalane (Tewksbury, MA) added to the Lancers advantage for the eventual game-cliniching marker with 1:26 remaining in the second period, putting Worcester State in front 4-2. WSU would outshoot Becker 21-2 in the second period.

Worcester State then scored their fourth tally of the contest off the stick of senior Chris Wallin (Avon, CT) 10:34 into the third period. Becker stopped the bleeding momentarily when senior Rob Johnson (Fenton, MI) scored his second goal of the season for Becker.

After the Hawks pulled their goalie with 1:19 remaining Serbon scored on the empty net, securing the 6-3 win for the Lancers.

Freshman goalie Taylor Fant (Dever, CO) made 23 saves in his first career victory for the Lancers while Rosenthal made 36 saves in a losing effort for Becker.
