Ice Hockey Blanked By Plymouth State, 6-0

Plymouth, NH --- Junior Brian Kriner (Newport, RI) and senior Andrew Stewart (O'Leary, PEI) each sent in a pair of goals to help lead Plymouth State to a 6-0 shutout this evening over Worcester State in MASCAC men's ice hockey action.

With the win the Panthers improve to 12-3-4 and 7-3-3 in the conference while the Lancers slip to 8-8-3 and 5-7-1 in league play.

Kriner helped put Plymouth State on top when he scored his two goals in the first period with the first coming with 28 seconds off the clock and again at 10:45. Stewart then put PSU up 4-0 when he notched his two markers with a tally at 12:58 and the games only power play goal at 16:14.

Sophomore Kyle Greco (Hillside, IL), who notched assists on Kriner's goals, made it 5-0 with 11:54 off the clock in the third and then fourth-year Sean Buckley (Sagamore Beach, MA) capped off the scoring for Plymouth State.

Second-year Jack Astedt (Angelholm, Sweden) stopped all 17 shots he faced as he recorded his third shutout this season. Junior Bryan Kalczynski (Tonawanda, NY) shouldered the loss for the Lancers as he collected 21 saves in the setback.

The Blue and Gold were outshot 29-17 and had a frustrating night with the extra man advantage as they were 0-for-5 on power plays. Third-year John Cahalane (Tewksbury, MA) paced the effort with four shots on net for WSU.

The Lancers will complete their non-league schedule with local rival Assumption at home on Wednesday at 6:30 while the Panthers will entertain Salem State in a key MASCAC matchup at 7 PM on Thursday.
