Kalczynski Named MASCAC Goaltender of the Week

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Worcester State senior net minder Bryan Kalczynski (Tonawanda, NY) has been selected as this week's MASCAC Ice Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week for his performance in a 4-1 MASCAC Quarterfinal triumph over Fitchburg State.

For Kalczynski this marks the third time that he has been honored with conference weekly laurels.

Kalczynski stopped 31 of the 32 shots that he faced to help lift the Lancers to their first postseason victory in 35 years. WSU's last win in the postseason came during the 1976-77 ECAC Division III Ice Hockey Championship in a 7-5 win over Framingham State.

As of this past weekend, Kalczynski is currently ranked second in the MASCAC overall statistics rankings in save percentage by a single point (.922) and he has the third-best goals against average (2.47) with the most minutes played of any other goalkeeper in the conference.

With two shutouts to his credit this season, Kalczynski has the 17th-best save percentage in the NCAA Division III and the 29th best goals against average nationally. He has helped backstop defensive unit that has posted a goals against average that is 0.39 lower than it was last year and allowed 10 fewer markers.

The fifth-seeded Lancers (9-14-3) will play at #1 Plymouth State in the semifinals of the MASCAC Tournament at 6 PM. WSU went 1-1-1 against the MASCAC Regular Season Champion Panthers with the lone setback coming in overtime two weeks ago.
