Lancers Drop MASCAC Opener to Plymouth State

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's hockey team look to get their first win of the  2023-2024 campaign in a MASCAC conference battle with Plymouth State. The Lancers look to build off their 14 win season last year and compete for a MASCAC championship. 

 

Final: Worcester State: 1  Plymouth State: 9


The Lancers fell behind early as the Panthers scored in the middle of the first. Plymouth was resilient in their attack in the first as they knocked in their 2nd goal in the closing minute leaving the Lancers trailing 2-0.

 

The Panthers again got off to a hot start in the 2nd as they found the back of the net 3 times in the opening minutes of the 2nd as their lead ballooned to 5-0. The Panthers continued their tear throughout the 2nd to make it 7-0 to close the 2nd. 

 

Plymouth State did not let up as they added to the tally early in the 3rd period. Worcester State scored their first goal by junior Martin Dlugolinsky (Stara Lubovna,Slovakia) but Plymouth State reinstated their 8 goal lead 2 mins after to come to the 9-1 final.


The Lancers, who now sit at (0-2,0-1) return to the ice next Thursday night  when they travel to play Framingham State in a MASCAC matchup, with a 7:40 puck drop . Plymouth State now sits at (2-0,1-0)  on the season.
