Worcester, MA- The Blue and Gold (1-4-1, 0-1-1) return to action after an action packed shootout finally on Thursday night. The Lancers are back in action tonight to take on the Fitchburg State Falcons in their third conference match on the season.
Final
Worcester State: 1
Fitchburg State: 6
How it Happened:
The scoring would start quick in tonight's meeting as the Falcons were on an offensive onslaught early. While Worcester worked to find their defensive footing, the Falcons had already jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opening 20 minutes of action.
The second period action would see the Lancers defense re-assert themselves successfully, killing three power plays in the stretch without conceding any additional goals. While their defense found their footing, the offense was still unable to find success leaving a 5-0 score at the end of the second.
After a struggling first and second the Lancers hoped to gain some traction in the final 20, but the Falcons defense remained unstoppable. The Falcons would attempt to extend their lead but Lancers defense was meeting the challenge and shutting down the offensive action. The Falcons finally managed to record their sixth in the final five minutes after finally overwhelming the Lancer defense in the third but first year Cam Quigley (Quincy, MA) would counter to provide Worcester their first goal of the game.
