Worcester, MA --- Senior Contantino Patramanis (Worcester, MA) sank the go-ahead marker to lift Worcester State, 2-1, over the University of Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon at Coughlin Field. With the win, the Lancers improve to 3-1-2 while the Huskies drop to 3-2-1.

After a scoreless first half, Worcester State went up 1-0 in the 66th minute on an unassisted goal by freshman forward Andrew Babineau (Webster, MA).

Southern Maine tied the game up five minutes later when senior forward Sinisa Bajic (Belgrade, Serbia) caught and knocked in the rebound of his original shot, which had hit the post. (71:39).

The game remained gridlocked for the next 30 minutes of play, with no team gaining an advantage; until Patramanis hit the game-winning shot in the 109th minute on an inside pass from senior Brian Andrade (Hudson, MA).

Sophomore Dan Hansen (Worcester, MA) finished the game with six saves for the Lancers while his counterpart, junior Steve May (Brunswick, ME), registered three stops on the afternoon. WSC Senior Matt Brothers (Auburn, MA) notched the Blue and Gold two team saves when he stopped two shots from going in the first half off the foot of both senior Ben Slangle (Scarborough, ME) in the 28th minute and classmate Greg Cox (Brookline, MA) in the 42nd.

The Huskies held a 16-12 advantage in shots while both teams had only one corner each.

Worcester State will travel to north to Fitchburg State next Saturday for a 3 PM contest while Southern Maine will host Bodoin on Wednesday at 4:30.
