Lancers Even Up MASCAC Record

Box Score

Worcester, MA --- Senior Paul Membrino (Fitchburg, MA) registered the lone marker of the contest to help lead Worcester State to a 1-0 victory over visiting Mass Maritime in MASCAC men's soccer action this afternoon at Coughlin Stadium. With the win the Lancers up their record to 6-9-2 and 3-3 in the conference while the Buccaneers slip to 5-10-2 and 1-5 in the conference.

After a scoreless first half that saw WSC hold an 8-2 advantage in shots, the Blue and Gold would take 27 shots, but only find the back of the net once. Senior Brian Andrade (Hudson, MA) led the charge as he finished with 11 shots.

Membrino netted the go-ahead tally in the 61st minute when he took a cross from freshman Andrew Babineau (Webster, MA). Membrino's first goal of the season was a shot from the right side of the net.

WSC Sophomore Evan Wilga (Dudley, MA) earned his first shutout of the season as he recorded three saves. MMA senior Tim Meighan (E. Bridgewater, MA) was impressive as he made 14 stops between the pipes.

Both teams will finish their season next Saturday with MASCAC games. Worcester State looks to try to get into the conference semifinals with a win over Salem State at 6 PM on homecoming while Mass Maritime will visit Bridgewater State at 11 AM.
