Men's Soccer Drops Union Tournament Final To Dutchmen

Schenectady, NY --- Junior Chris Santangelo (Sayville, NY) scored on a header off a corner kick 10:55 into the first half and junior Teddy Steen (Worcester, MA) added a penalty kick in the second half as the Union men's soccer team recorded a 2-0 victory over Worcester State at the Union College Classic at College Park Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Union improved to 2-0 on the season while the Lancers fell to 1-2.
 
Senior John Manna (Acton, MA) drew the penalty kick on a run into the 18-yard box with 16:10 remaining in the contest. Steen beat Worcester State junior goalkeeper Evan Wiga (Dudley, MA) with a low shot for his first goal of the season.
 
Manna had a hand in Union's first goal early in the contest, sending a corner kick into the box that Satangelo finished high into the net for his first goal of the season.
 
The Dutchmen recorded 16 shots on net for the game as Wilga recorded 14 stops and junior goalkeeper Adam Margulies (Newtown, CT) made two saves for Union's second straight shutout.  
 
The Lancers will take a break until they entertain St. Joeseph's of Maine in their home opener on Thursday at 7 PM while Union will host Western Connecticut on Tuesday at 7 PM.
