Gorham, ME --- Senior Mark Johnson (Woburn, MA) and freshman Ian Fields (Shrewsbury, MA) each took home individual titles in the long jump and the high jump, respectively, as the Lancers took third at the MASCAC Championships. WSC also placed sixth at the New England Alliance meet. Six of the Lancers captured All-MASCAC honors.

Westfield State was the meet winner with 241 points while Fitchburg State (156) and Worcester State (56) finished in second and third.

Johnson had a monster day winning All-MASCAC honors in four events. Johnson took home the top spot in the long jump (6.42m) second place in the 55 meter dash (6.63) fourth in the triple jump (13.14m) and fifth in the 200 (23.51). With his marks in the triple jump and the 55, he has qualified himself for the ECAC Championships at the beginning of next month.

Fields also helped the Lancers after he captured first in the high jump (1.86m) and third in the 400 (51.39). Fields also took home eighth in the 200 (23.83).

Junior James Macera (Paxton, MA) registered second in the weight throw (15.19m) while freshman Nick Capone (Billerica, MA) hurled fifth place finish in the shot put (12.68m).

Rounding off the Lancers who landed on the All-MASCAC team were senior Matt Leeds (Bellingham, MA) jumped to fifth in the triple jump (12.96m) while sophomore middle distance runner Robert Stahelski (S. Deerfield, MA) placed fourth in the 600 (1:28.73). Leeds also finished seventh in the long jump (5.79m) to end off his afternoon.

Junior Norman Everett (W. Bridgewater, MA) tallied an eighth place finish in the 800 (2:51.66) while senior Chris Mancuso (Rowley, MA) placed eighth in the 1000 (2:52.23).

The Lancers will compete again on Saturday, February 21 when qualifying members will travel to Cambridge, MA to compete at the Division III New England Championships hosted by MIT for a two-day event.
