Webb, Paquin Pace Men's Indoor Track At Harvard Open

Cambridge, MA --- Freshman Marlon Webb (Narragansett, MA) , sophomore Todd Paquin (Pelham, NH) and senior RJ Stahelski (S. Deerfield, MA) each qualified for the Division III New England Championships to help lead the Worcester State men's indoor track team at the Harvard Open.

The non-scoring meet featured competition from all three NCAA divisions and several club track teams as well.

In his first competition of the season, Webb broke out in a big way as he clocked the fastest Division III time in the 200 for 20th (23.08) before he notched 23rd in the 60 meters (7.28). Paquin notched ninth in the long jump (21-04) as he would add 26th place in the 60 (7.29).

Stahelski also had a solid finish of 15th in the 500 (1:08.34).

The sprinters were also led by sophomore Graham Asum (Marlboro, MA) who registered 30th in the 60 (7.33) while junior Adam Correia (Fall River, MA) took 45th in the 200. In the 400 meter dash, freshman Ramses Raphael (Lawrence, MA), first-year Kevin Maciel (Tewksbury, MA) and sophomore Jon Parrella (Wilmington, MA) each notched 39th (53.89), 42nd (54.19) and 46th (54.55), respectively.

Sophomore Harrison McCann (Rutland, MA) tossed ninth in the weight throw (48-10) for his best mark of the season while classmate Shawn McCabe (Mansfield, MA) tacked on finishes of 18th in the shot put (39-08.50) and 34th in the weight throw (36-11.50).

Junior Nick Capone (Billerica, MA) added 21st in the shot put (39-02.50) as junior Drew Mattis (Canton, MA) placed 26th in the weight throw.

The field was also highlighted by junior Andrew Garcia (Brea, CA) tying for 19th in the pole vault (12-05.50). Sophomore Luke Curtis (Dudley, MA) also had a leap of 20th in the long jump while first-year Andrew Johnson (Thompson, CT) cleared 13th in the high jump (5-11.50).

The distance corps were propelled by freshman teammates Neil Reilly (Oxford, MA) and Pat Daley (Millbury, MA) who each finished 41st (9:31.95) and 46nd (9:39.60), respectively, in the 3,000.

Sophomore Greg Babiec (Worcester, MA/Doherty) rounded things out for the Lancers as he finished in 43rd in the 800 with a time of 2:09.97.

The mens indoor track team will take the rest of the semester off before they compete again on January 15th at the Tufts Invitational.
