Buzzards Bay, MA --- First-year sprinter Stephen Gannon (Mansfield, MA) has been selected as this week's MASCAC Male Track Athlete of the Week for his performance this past weekend at the University of New Hampshire Invitational.
Gannon took home top honors in the 400 meters (52.38) while he added a fifth place finish in the 200 meters (24.11) and helped anchor the fourth-place 4x400 meter relay team (3:41.11) as the Lancers took home fourth as a team with 103 points at the meet.
Thus far this season, Gannon has already qualified for the Division III New England Championships in each of the sprint events. Both his times in the 200 (23.07) and 400 (51.21) are currently tied for eighth on the most up-to-date performance list on Directathletics.com.
Worcester State will compete again next week at the MIT Invitational.
