Worcester, MA- Worcester State Men’s Indoor Track sprinter, first year Elvis Velez (Clinton, MA) was named the MASCAC Rookie of the Week after his top finishes at the Westfield State Invitational this past Saturday.

Velez set two new PBs when he finished first in the 60m with a time of 7.29seconds as well as a second place finish in the 200m in a time of 23.81 seconds.

Receiving honorable mention after the weekends meet are senior Daniel Clark (Worcester, MA) who finished first in the 1,000m in a time of 2:42.56 and junior Jack Houlihan (Rutland, MA) who finished third in the weight throw 12.51m and a 11.06m toss in the shot put for fifth place.

Velez, and the Men’s Indoor Track Team is back in action on Saturday, February 18, when they travel to Wheaton College for the Wheaton Pre-Post Season Meet.
