Mazeika, Johnson Lead Men's Outdoor Track At Bryant Invitational

Smithfield, RI --- Sophomore Tim Mazeika (Millbury, MA) timed 10:26.46 in the 3000 meter steeplechase for second-place while freshman Andrew Johnson (Thompson, CT) cleared 1.93 meters in the high jump for third to qualify for the ECAC's as they helped lead the men's outdoor track & field team at the non-scoring Bryant Invitational.

The 16-team competition featured mostly Division I schools, MASCAC rival Bridgewater State and Southern Maine along with a couple of community colleges and club track teams.

The two relay squads posted strong times as the 4x100 meter relay team of freshman Randy Joseph-Jones (Beverly, MA), Brian Espinosa (Rehoboth, MA) along with sophomores Luke Curtis (Dudley, MA) and Todd Paquin (Pelham, NH) clocked 43.60 while the 4x400 meter relay squad of first-year teammates Devlin Crawford (Randolph, MA), Kevin Maciel (Tewksbury, MA), Mazieka and senior RJ Stahelski (S. Deerfield, MA) added seventh with a 3:29.86.

Espinosa and Paquin placed fourth (6.38 meters) and fifth (6.38m) in the long jump, respectively as a result of a second-best jump, while Stahelski notched sixth in the 400 (50.01) and seventh in the 200 (22.89). Maciel finished 12th in the 110 meter hurdles (58.30) as Espinosa took home 11th in the 100 (11.47) and 12th in the 200 (23.16).

Curtis and Paquin were second apart in 21st (11.60) and 22nd (11.64) in the 100 to round out the sprints. Crawford also placed 36th in the 1,500 (4:21.47).

In the field, sophomore Andrew Garcia (Brea, CA) cleared 3.65 meters in the pole vault for sixth place while freshman Steve Fleming (Ludlow, MA) was right behind in seventh (3.35m). Jones-Joseph leaped ninth in the triple jump (11.82m) as Curtis registered 11th (11.02m).

Second-year Harrison McCann (Rutland, MA) tossed  9th in the shot put (13.06m) and 15th in the discus (38.30m) as classmate Sebastian Bilenschuk (Mansfield, MA) added 15th in the hammer (39.71m) and 17th in the disc (37.02m). Second-year Connor Greene had a flick of 44.83 meters for 16th in the javelin while junior's Andrew Babineau (Webster, MA) (44.21m, 18th) and Nick Capone (Billerica, MA) (42.75m, 20th), were just out of the top 16.

Next week the Lancers will run at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
