Men's Outdoor Track Places Third In MASCAC, Fourth In Alliance Standings

Fitchburg, MA --- Highlighted by sophomore Todd Paquin's (Pelham, NH) outstanding day in the long jump and 200 meters, the Worcester State men's track and field team placed third with 116 points at the MASCAC Championships hosted by Fitchburg State. The Lancers also scored 79 points for fourth in the New England Alliance.

Paquin chalked up first place in the long jump (6.61 meters) before he clocked second in the MASCAC and Alliance in the 200 meters (22.85).

Paquin also teamed with freshmen Julius White (Dorchester, MA), Randy Joseph-Jones (Beverly, MA) and Devlin Crawford(Randolph, MA) to time first in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 43.56. The same relay was second in the Alliance, by nine hundreths of a second.

Other top finishers included senior RJ Stahelski (S. Deerfield, MA) in the 400 (49.29), first-year Kevin Maciel (Tewksbury, MA) who won the MASCAC/Alliance title in the 400 meter hurdles (56.33).

A record 14 competitors and three relay teams will compete at next week's Division III New England Championships, which will be hosted by MIT on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
