Two School Men's Track Marks Broken At Holy Cross In Fourth-Place Effort

Worcester, MA --- The 4x100 meter relay team shattered a school mark and sophomore Kevin Maciel (Tewksbury, MA) broke his own record in the 400 meter hurdles as they helped lead the Worcester State men's track and field team to fourth place this afternoon at the Holy Cross Quad meet this afternoon.

Using international scoring, the Lancers tallied 134 points, just 15 away from the hosting Crusaders total of third (149) and 18 away from UNH's score of 152. URI won the meet with 215 points.

The Blue and Gold compete in the meet every season the Tuesday before the MASCAC Championships against Division I competition to sharpen-up for the league crown.

The 4x100 team of freshman classmates Duy Truong (Worcester, MA/Doherty) and Stephen Gannon (Foxboro, MA) along with sophomore Luke Curtis (Dudley, MA) and junior Todd Paquin (Pelham, NH) sprinted to a time of 42.39 – which is currently the second-best time in Division III New England, fifth in the ECAC Division III and 19th in all of New England.

Paquin helped the Lancers set the mark last season (42.91) at the Open New England's.

Maciel broke his own time he reset at the Division III New England's in 2011 (55.38) as he placed second with a new standard of 55.11. Right behind him in third was third-year Jon Parrella (Wilmington, MA) who timed 56.26.

The rest of the highlights will be posted tomorrow morning.
