Worcester, MA- The Lancers Men's Track and Field team was last in action in 2024, and begin 2025 exactly where they ended it as they again journey to Wesleyan, this time to compete in the Wesleyan Indoor Invite. Leading the Lancers action today was senior Brodie Jacques (rehoboth, MA), placing second in both the 60m and long jump.
Jacques led the running contingent on the day with 2nd place finish in the 60m with a 7.04 seconds. First year Taku Pettengill (Shirley, MA) added additional speed to the Lancers track with a 7th place finish in the 400m with a 56.35. He led his Lancer teammates senior Brian O'Leary (Marlborough, MA) who finished in 11th at 59.81, first year Patrick Harvey (Holden, MA) in 12th at a time of 59.85 and closing out the trio set in the 400m was junior Alan Gomez (Clinton, MA) with a time of 60.53 for a 13th place finish. The 200m race would see first years Yael Lopez (Milford, MA) in 19th with 25 seconds and Albert Kyereme (Springfield, MA) claim 20th in a time of 25.09 in a race off. Rounding out the team in the 200 was first years Tommy Silva in 34th in a time of 26.86, Anthonio Tyndale (Worcester, MA) in 37th in 27.29 and John Kollie (Worcester, MA) in 38th with a time of 27.31.
As the tack got a bit larger, the Lancers did not slow down as sophomore Jacksen Bolduc (Auburn, MA) would go the distance in 1000m claiming ninth with a 2:59.89 and senior Alexander Lucier (Gardner, MA) would take 12th in the mile with a 4:55.85. First year Ryan Brown (Salem, MA) would claim 13th in the 800m with a 2:22.03 just ahead of junior Andrew Stokes (Wilmington, MA) in 15th at 2:31.10. Coming in large in the distance circuit was sophomore Kelan Mahoney (Oakham, MA) who claimed fourth in the 3,000m in a time time of 9:59.09, crossing just before first year Dan Smith (Medway, MA) in seventh at 10:10.65 and junior Alex Matsuyasu (Newton, MA) in 11th at 10:37.22.
Wrapping up the track events on the day were the 4x400 relay teams with the first team headed up by Brown, Lucier, Mahoney and Bolduc who crossed in 6th in 3:53.48. Relay team two would claim 10th lead by O'Leary, Gomez, first year Patrick Harvey (Holden, MA) and Pettengill and Silva for a time of 4:05.07.
On the field side of the track and field meet, Jacques would claim the top finish with a second in the long jump of a distance of 6.53m. Joining Jacques in the pit was first years James Almeida (Auburn, MA), in 25th with a 5.32m, and Tyndale in 26th at 5.30m. Senior Giovanni Casiano would claim 28th on a mark of 5.18m. In the triple jump pit, first year Michael Mireku (Worcester, MA) would claim 8th on a 12.14m leap.
The throwing pit would see a trio of success in the shot put as first year Gavin Delgado (Douglas, MA) claimed 14th on 11.78m measurement ahead of fellow first years
Dominic Beauchesne (Dudley, MA) in 33rd with a 9.28m and Hunter Cormier (Westminster, MA) in 34th with a 8.82m. Senior Max O'Connor (Dedham, MA) took charge in the weight throw with an 11th place finish of 13.34m, just edging out sophomore Garrett Papierski (Webster, MA) in 15th at 13.09m. Fellow sophomore Danny Butler would claim 25th on a 10.71m try.
Worcester State is next on the track next week, this time heading north to Plymouth State for the Panther Invite.
